Refractions

A refraction is a separate service usually performed on the same day as a comprehensive exam, complete exam or to determine the visual acuity due to a particular complaint of our patient. You will be asked to look through our equipment to a screen with different letters and tell us how well you are seeing as our staff or doctors change the lenses. During this process we can then determine your refractive state and if needed, write a prescription for glasses. Since this procedure is not performed on ALL patients, we only charge when it is performed.

Insurance companies do not consider a refraction a necessity and we will collect a refraction fee if your insurance carrier does not cover this service. Medicare patients please note this is not a covered expense under Medicare.

The current Refraction fee is: $30
